From: TSDIS Helpdesk [mailto:helpdesk@tsdis02.nascom.nasa.gov] Sent: Wednesday, January 12, 2000 6:20 AM To: TSDIS.Science.Users Cc: Bill Teng Subject: TRMM data for January 10, 2000 Dear TRMM Science Users; TSDIS has been informed the TRMM MOC experienced a hardware failure of it's Programmable Telemetry Processor-1 (failed hard drive), which ultimately resulted in several minutes of lost science data capture due to temporary recorder overflows on the spacecraft starting at 00-010/07:25:46z. The overflow durations are as follows: LIS 8 min 19 sec PR 6 min 50 sec TMI 6 min 53 sec VIRS 13 min 3 sec This problem did not significantly impact the TRMM data products produced for Janaury 10, 2000 (2000:010). Partial granules have been produced for the data gaps (orbit #12196). TSDIS Science Group has validated the data produced, and stated the 1A21 product will be slightly smaller than usual. Please contact the helpdesk if you have any questions.
