Good morning...

Please be advised that yesterday afternoon (April 22, DOY 112), the LIS
recorder on board TRMM overflowed for a
period of approximately 1 min, 17 seconds (71.5 VCDUs of LIS Science data
was not recovered). Event Report number
29 was generated to document this occurrence. During the event for orbit
2301, a software problem with the primary operational string resulted in a
failover to the redundant string with less than 2 minutes remaining in the
event, before the recorder data could be released. The recorders were not
released before the event ran out. The console analysts were able to
immediately schedule another event, and were able to retransmit any
remaining missing vcdu's and release the recorders. This was accomplished
in time to prevent any lost vcdus for the other TRMM instruments, but the
LIS recorder overflowed just over a minute before the release command was
executed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have
caused, and we will continue to look into finding ways to prevent similar
occurrences from repeating.

Best Regards,

Andy Calloway
