The PERSIANN-CSS data was obtained from UC Irvine, CHRS (Center for Hydrometeorology and Remote Sensing) and
has been downloaded to the ftp://gpm.nsstc.nasa.gov/gpm_validation/ifloods/PERSIANN/data/ascii/ directory
for use in the IfloodS portal.  The Global Hydrology Resource Center (GHRC), reformatted these files to netCDF 
which  are found at ftp://gpm.nsstc.nasa.gov/gpm_validation/ifloods/PERSIANN/data/nc/.

The PERSIANN-CCS data in this directory:
    ftp://persiann.eng.uci.edu/pub/GCCS/iflood/

are subset from the global 30-minute PERSIANN-CCS data files generated in
near real time.


The files are flat ascii grids:
    148 rows x 243 cols
    of .04 deg cells

bounded by the coords:
        263.16 to 272.84 long
        39.36 to 45.24 lat

topmost row (northmost) could be considered to be centered (1/2 cell down) at 45.22 N
leftmost col (westmost)  could be considered to be centered (1/2 cell in) at 263.18  ( 96.82 W )

values are in mm/hr (rain rate)
NODATA values are -9999 ( < 0)

filenames represent the date/time:
    rccs_if1304041515.asc
    rccs_ifYYMMDDHHmm.asc

    if =    iflood subarea
    YYMMDD = year month day
    HHMM = hour and minute. where MM is the center of the 30min period
            (i.e.  MM=15 represents the 30min period from   HH:00 to HH:30 &
                    MM=45  is   HH:30 to HH:60)
