LIS HEATER AUTO CONFIG The switch occurred repeatedly, October 15 - 16. TRMMM MOC was requested to perform a normal reset/recovery command sequence whenever this anomaly occurred. Due to the increased frequencey of occurances of the auto switch, the Heater Controller auto select function (12:42:32z) was disabled. See Cancace Shomaker's e-mail. Click here for summary of anomaly and command activity.

At approximately 18:10 GMT on 99-003, the TRMM spacecraft entered Sun Acq and switched to GSACE B due to an FDC trigger, in which the Solar Arrays did not reach their commanded position before the alotted time. All instruments are currently off, until analysis and recovery efforts are complete. A complete timeline of events is being put together and will be distributed once all the information is gathered. We regret the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience. For any specific questions or requests, please contact the TRMM MOC at 301-286-0198. Additional information.

More threshold tweaking to get rid of false daytime events due to cloud edge. 1998-041T16:56:16.42807 :: 16 16 18 18 18 18 18 20 20 20 20 20 22 63 63 63 Also did a watchdog timeout to be safe, since the packet sequence errors are increasing again, (peak 6/LZ data set).

1998 January 23

There has been an increase in packet sequence errors which has resulted in some small data loss and some small amount of data corruption,(see chart below). Each error typically represents a loss of two data packets and sometimes the corruption of one. Another funny is that we are still receiving the maximum # of packets possible 86400/day, even with the packet loss?? Peak errors/day so far is 117. The sequence errors are represented by the lower line on the chart using the left axis. The rise in data sequence errors started when TRMM re-entered the glint zone, ( i.e. glint started traversing the CCD). This did not occur when LIS was in the 6 Kb mode. LIS went to 8kb mode at 1997-12-14T22:46:12. This is indicated by the step in the # packets/day. The near term solution is to monitor errors and reset if errors are greater than 10/LZ data set, until a long term solution is developed.
