17 Sept 2010 WB-57 Platform Scientist Report (Karl) - Tim Miller

Flight Date:
Fri, 09/17/2010

This flight was to hurricane Karl (became T.S. Karl during that day) as it made landfall on the Mexican coast.

Take-off was at 1626 UTC, landing was ~2200 UTC.

The flight plan consisted of a series of tracks parallel to the coast, as produced by a "rectangular spiral" plan.  There was some deviation from this plan by the pilot for an unknown reason (so some of the tracks were not parallel to the others), but this was fairly inconsequential.

There should be many points of correlative measurements with the DC-8, although not as close in time as desired.  The WB-57 was a little late taking off due to an unexpected need to re-file the flight plan with ATC.

See attachments for planned and actual flight tracks.
