Mission synopsis: 07 Sept 2010.
 
 NOAA/IFEX:
 
There are currently no operational or research taskings for the NOAA P-3s or the NOAA G-IV for Tuesday, 7 September or Wednesday, 8 September 2010. NOAA 42 scheduled to conduct a scientific Ocean Survey Mission on Thursday (T/O 1400 UTC, 6-8 hour mission).
 
 
 NASA/GRIP:
 
(1) DC8:
 Tuesday, 7 September (today): The DC-8 is currently conducting a research mission into the "quasi-comatose" Gaston (square spiral) and will be returning to Fort Lauderdale tonight.   Take off was scheduled for 1800 UTC from STX, (7-9.5 hours duration) but delayed by 52 minutes due to maintenance issues
 Wednesday, 8 September - No fly day
 Thursday, 9 September: Possible Science Flight
 Friday, 10 September: Possible Science Flight
 
 (2) Global Hawk:
 Install and testing of the NCAR/NOAA GPS dropsonde system remains a high priority
 Update from NCAR as of 7 September 17 UTC:  install of the AVAPS and test flights will not be possible until next week
 Tuesday, 7 September: no fly day
 Wednesday, 8 September: no fly day
 Thursday, 9 September: no fly day
 Friday, 10 September: tbd
 Saturday, 11 September: tbd
 
 (3) WB-57: The WB-57 continues to be down for repairs.
 
 
 NSF/PREDICT:
 
(1) NSF/NCAR G5:
 Tuesday, 7 September (today): PREDICT conducted Research Flight 13 into the remnants of Gaston (PGI38L)
 (T/O: 1230 UTC; 6 hr duration).  The aircraft recovered to Barbados.
 
 Wednesday 8 September:  Return of aircraft from Barbados back to St. Croix (T/O:12:30 UTC, 4.5 hr duration).
 Thursday, 9 September: Alert for potential Research Flight
 
 
 AIR FORCE:
 

All AFRC C-130J operational tasking reconnaissance requirements for the
remnants of Gaston were canceled by NHC this morning.
