Global Hawk Report

·      Aircraft – green

o      Aircraft completed mission to PGI44L to fly in coordination with DC8, G-IV, NOAA-43.

o      Coordination difficult, but able to fly two legs with DC8 and one with NOAA-43.

o      Need 36 hour turnaround time before it can fly again from 4:30 am local time Monday 9/13.

o      Waiting for dropsonde low & high altitude drop test no earlier than Friday 9/17/10.

o      Consider a Thursday flight to PGI44L in the Bay of Campeche.

o      Nadir camera working well, with heater installed.

o      Lost KU band communications in the Caribbean on 9/12 flight.

§       Failure of an oscillator on the ground station.

§       Repairs to be worked today.

·      Droposonde – red

oRe-fly of Low Altitude test flight and high altitude flights in one day. Mustbe a weekday and have a chase plane.

oPursuing quick and longer-term fixes, availability later this week is uncertain. So, go ahead with any science opportunities.

oWill not be able to fly till Friday 9/17/10

 

·      HAMSR – green.

·      LIP - green

·      HIWRAP – yellow

oSome noise in 2-channels in the Ka band

WB-57 Report

·      Aircraft - green

o      Will not deploy to Tampa, plan to fly PGI44L from Houston.

o      Will do fairly simple butterfly pattern, takeoff 12 CDT. 6.5 hour total flight, 2.5 hr ferry, 1.5 hr on-station.

o      As approaches Yucatan Peninsula and if storm develops can do more science from Houston.

o      Possible deployment to Tampa on Friday to fly Igor Saturday, 18 or Sunday 19.

o      Need 72-hour notice to fly over Cuba utilizing commercial air space.

·      HIRAD - green

o      Will do sky calibration 9/12.

o      Procedures finished this morning, looking at the data.

o      Ready to fly by Monday.

·      NAST-I still delayed – may make it for last week of mission.

 

DC8 Report

·      Aircraft– green

o      On schedule for takeoff at 18:30Z to fly to PGI44L.

o      On alert for Tuesday.

o      No fly on Wednesday, possible flight Thursday.

o      Need 72-hour notice to over fly Cuba utilizing commercial airspace.

·      LASE – green.

·      LARGE – green.

·      APR2 – green.

o      CSI cannot fly for the duration of GRIP

o      60 sondes have been promised from NOAA, they are shipping on Monday. Thank you NOAA!
