Worldview now provides imagery for the near-real time AMSR2 Level-2 Land product generated by the NASA Land, Atmosphere Near real-time Capability for EOS (LANCE) AMSR2 Processing Center at the Global Hydrology Resource Center Distributed Active Archive Center (GHRC DAAC). The most recent imagery can be viewed here:...

The AMSR Science Investigator-led Processing System (SIPS) at the GHRC DAAC has completed processing of the initial AMSR Level-2 Land product from beginning of the AMSR2 mission to present. This product is generated using the AMSR Unified (AMSR-E and AMSRU) Land algorithms, with Level-1R (resampled) brightness temperatures from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) as input. Routine forward processing continues. Data products are delivered from the AMSR SIPS to NSIDC DAAC for archive and distribution. Full resolution imagery are provided to the Global Imagery Browse Services (GIBS).

Parsivel disdrometers - LPVEx

The Global Hydrology Resource Center has published the GPM Ground Validation NASA EPFL-LTE Parsivel DSD Data from Lausanne, Switzerland (http://dx.doi.org/10.5067/GPMGV/EPFL/DATA201). The dataset consists of a network of 16 Parsivel disdrometers deployed by the Environmental Remote Sensing Laboratory (Laboratoire de Télédétection Environnementale – LTE) on the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL) campus in Lausanne, Switzerland for about 16 months from March 2009 to July 2010. The distribution of the disdrometers was to...

The Global Hydrology Resource Center (GHRC) has published the GPM Ground Validation ACHIEVE W-Band Cloud Radar IPHEx (DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.5067/GPMGV/IPHEX/WBAND/DATA101) dataset. The data were gathered during the the GPM Ground Validation Integrated Precipitation and Hydrology Experiment (IPHEx) Intensive Observing Period (IOP) in North Carolina from May 1, 2014 through June 15, 2014. The dataset includes data from the ProSensing 94 GHz W-Band cloud radar instrument, which is part of the NASA Goddard Space Flight...

The AMSR Science Investigator-led Processing System (SIPS) at the GHRC DAAC has completed integration and testing of the AMSR Unified (AMSR-U) version 1-beta Level-2 Land, including end-to-end testing with the NSIDC DAAC. The Level-2 Land algorithm is the first generating AMSR-U standard products and is now running routinely in production at the SIPS. The AMSR-U Level 2B surface soil moisture products are generated from the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency’s (JAXA) AMSR2 L1R brightness temperatures using two distinct algorithms: the Normalized Polarization Difference (NPD) algorithm and the Single Channel Algorithm (SCA).

GHRC DAAC staff have published three additional datasets from the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) Ground Validation (GV) Integrated Precipitation and Hydrology Experiment (IPHEx), which took place April – June 2014, in the Southern Appalachians, spanning into the Piedmont and Coastal Plain regions of North Carolina:

GPM Ground Validation Citation Videos IPHEx (DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.5067/GPMGV/IPHEX/CAMERA/DATA101) – Videos taken from the University of North Dakota Citation II aircraft.  Videos have been sped up 12.5 times...

GRIP graphic

GHRC DAAC staff have published a new version of the dropsonde dataset from the Genesis and Rapid Intensification Processes (GRIP) campaign in 2010. The GRIP DC-8 Dropsonde V3 dataset (DOI: https://dx.doi.org/10.5067/GRIP/DROPSONDE/DATA202) corrects a temperature dependent dry bias in the relative humidity measurements that was discovered in all dropsondes (RD94) and mini-dropsondes (NRD94) collected from 2010 to present. All files have had a correction applied to the RH measurements and dewpoint temperatures have been recomputed as well...

The Global Hydrology Resource Center Distributed Active Archive Center (GHRC DAAC) has published the GPM Ground Validation Iowa X-band Polarimetric Mobile Doppler Weather Radars IFloodS dataset (DOI: http://dx.doi.org//10.5067/GPMGV/IFLOODS/XPOL/DATA201). These data were gathered during the IFloodS campaign from April to June 2013 throughout central and northeastern Iowa. Four X-band Polarimetric (XPOL) Mobile Doppler Weather Radars were used to collected high-resolution observations of precipitation. The data consists of reflectivity, Doppler velocity, spectrum...

The Global Hydrology Resource Center Distributed Active Archive Center (GHRC DAAC) has published the GPM Ground Validation Two-Dimensional Video Disdrometer (2DVD) WFF dataset (DOI: https://dx.doi.org/10.5067/GPMGV/WFF/2DVD/DATA201). These data were gathered in support of Global Precipitation Mission (GPM) Ground Validation at the NASA Wallops Flight Facility (WFF) in Wallops Island, Virginia from June 7, 2012 to March 5, 2014. These data measured the size, equivalent diameter, volume, fall speed, oblateness, cross-sectional area of raindrops, particle...
