Weather Summary Tropical--Gabrielle (32.3N 72.6W) is in a harsh environment with high shear to its north and east. Satellite imagery shows a 'comma' cloud pattern where you can actually draw fronts coming out of the storm. By all means this system is extratropical. There is no warm core. However, NHC is still calling it a tropical storm. Winds as of 5 pm were at 55 kt. The low level center is exposed with the deep convection to the north and east. Forward speed has increase to 14 kt and is expected to continue to increase due to the front. NHC is forecasting it to be extratropical by tomorrow morning and continueing to the NE. Elsewhere, a tropical wave is entering the Lesser Antilles and is not expected to develop. |
